GGC History and Purpose

The Goddard Gun Club was formed at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland in 1967 to provide an organization for NASA employees and contractors who enjoy firearms.  In 1973 the Club was successful in establishing a firing range on the east side of the GSFC campus.  Although the range is closed for the time being, the Club continues to promote a variety of sports centered around the safe and legal use of firearms.

GGC Elections 2009

Annual GGC Officer elections will be held in Feb as required by the GGC Constitution.  Club member, Rick Stickle, has accepted the role of Election Manager and will keep a record of those nominated.

The offices are: President, Vice President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer.  Please consider running for an office to help keep the Gun Club alive at GSFC.  Jeff Ferrara has indicated that he does not wish to run for President.  It’s best that you contact anyone else you wish to nominate first and gain their agreement of their nomination prior to making your formal nomination.

Memberships Expire at end of Feb

Annual club membership renewals are due by 1 Mar each year.  A copy of the membership application is attached but can also be found on the GGC web site. The cost is still $10 per person for the year.  Please get your completed application and payment to Membership Secretary Bill Hanrahan or mail them to the address on the application. http://www.goddardgunclub.org/Documents/GGC_Application.pdf

2008-9 GEWA Subsidy

GEWA recently informed the Club that they are not providing any subsidies again in 2008-9.

AGC Badges

Club members who wish to get AGC badges should contact John Zuby, Club Treasurer, at (301) 286-4893 to arrange payment to him. Payment for AGC badges is made to the club treasurer who then forwards a check to AGC for member AGC badges. (This is the way AGC works)

Please note that you must be a current (paid) member of one of the AGC supporting clubs (of which the GGC is one) in order obtain an AGC badge.

No Guns, Ammo or Powder on GSFC

Please be aware that private firearms, ammunition and gun powder are NOT Authorized on GSFC.  Being a member of the Goddard Gun Club does NOT bestow any special privilege to posses these items on Center at any time.

GEWA Shooting Subsidy

GEWA had granted the GGC a shooting subsidy of $2,500 in previous years but in 2007 had to decline our request due to a shortage of funds for all GEWA clubs.

GEWA recently reported that they are not providing any subsidies again in 2008-9.

Club Federal Firearms License (FFL) Status

In October 2006, GSFC denied the club permission to hold a Federal Firearms License (FFL). This means the Club no longer has an FFL.

The Club has made arrangements with local Firearms stores to handle legal purchases of firearms and firearms related materials requiring an FFL. Additional information will be posted here soon detailing the process.

GGC On-Site Range

In May 2008 the Club's on-site range at GSFC was demolished as part of the reconstruction effort on the east campus at GSFC.  The range was originally shutdown by the then  GSFC Center Director in the spring of 2001.
